Cigar Storage... (mixing cigars???)

I’ve a question about storing cigars. Historically, I’ve been told not to keep varieties of cigars in the same Humidor due to cross contamination.

while I can see that might be the case regarding mild vs. spicy cigars, I wonder whether this is just bunk.

I’m an occasional imbiber, but the combination of rarity of enjoyment, the prohibitive cost of purchasing one at a time, and the desire to try different brands/types of cigars leaves me little wiggle room. I either purchase a humidor and mix, or continue spending $7-12 per stick..

Comments and suggestions would be most helpful :)

contamination?

Pure bunk, The flavors dont marry in any way.
Mild cigars dont get fuller and maduro wrappers dont impart any flavor to a CT wrapper or vice versa even if they are touching.

But if you have flavored or infused cigars keep those seperate.

Newbies Welcome!

They will take on some of the flavor profiles of the other cigars, but thats when you let the mello for months, I will agree however keep the infused cigars away from the other ones…..As far as contamination that is bunk.

Contamination.. being.. a thought not a reality..

My use of “contamination” was a poor choice of words… I was attempting quick thought, and didn’t consider the alternative “definition” when i used the word..

Thanks for your input. I’ll keep looking about for a good Humidor that doesn’t cost $500

I would look at Thompsoncigar.com they have some pretty good ones for the money….

a bit more on Cigar costs.. in WA..

Just a tidbit of information..

Our state (WA) has the highest tax on the wholesale purchase price of cigars in the United States, charging an amazing 74.9 percent. Vermont charges the second-highest tax, at 41 percent.

so.. you can understand why i’m trying to find a humidor.. :)

Maybe a little ,but its cheap…lol.

I got one recently from cheaphumidors.com – very nice. Capacity approx 75 and paid approx $90. Big selection – I think they even have some “imperfect” inventory for less $$$.
